New Liverpool Coach Gets to Work
The start of June will see Jurgen Klopp leave Liverpool, but new boss Arne Slot is already making moves despite not officially being in the driver’s seat yet.
Anfield’s squad is expected to change in the upcoming months, and the 45-year-old Dutch football manager has already decreed that forward Darwin Nunez will not be part of the next campaign to secure silverware.
However, the upcoming transfer window is very likely to consume most of Slot’s energies as he builds for the future and assuages concerns due to the Reds fizzling out at the end of the 2022/23 season.
To this end, Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is being poached to add firepower, as Mohamed Salah is rumoured to be among the players that are going to be offloaded. However, while the latter’s time at the English club is uncertain as he might be sold, he has been adamant on social media that he will stay.
Slot is also in talks to bring over assistant coach Etienne Reijnen from Feyenoord Rotterdam. The two work well together, but Reijnen apparently lacks the official qualifications and paperwork to make the move to the club and the UK, respectively.
Time will tell if these teething pains will go away sooner or later.
